Whatever happened to "Death, Judgement, Heaven & Hell"?

at this week's meeting we'll be discussing together in groups the traditional versus modern themes for advent. In the old days, liturgically, the themes for the four week's of Advent were death, judgement, heaven & hell. Nowadays they've been replaced by hope, peace, joy & love. Which set is better?
